Who We Are

Established in 1975, the Colorado Governor's Council for Physical Fitness is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization. The Council is a bipartisan physical activity promotion and advocacy group comprised of approximately 30 Governor appointed members and numerous volunteers representing a wide range of Coloradoans. The Council is funded through private donations, registration fees, and merchandise sales. We do not receive any funding from the state for our activities and personnel.

What We Do

The Council and Foundation's mission is to empower lifestyle change in citizens of all ages and abilities through promoting and sponsoring physical activities, and to act as a liaison for the Governor on fitness-related issues. We also:

  • Sponsor and promote physical activity and sports events throughout the state
  • Educate Coloradoans about the health benefits of fitness and physical activity
  • Recognize individuals and businesses that make outstanding contributions in physical fitness, sports, and wellness
  • Provide ongoing support and sponsorship for the Governor's Cup, Cherry Creek Sneak, etc.
